The Jaw By Jaw™ Concept

One Moving Arch.
One Anchoring Arch.
Then Switch.

Jaw By Jaw™ Aligners is a sequential clear-aligner treatment concept in which the two dental arches are managed in stages rather than being treated as two completely independent moving systems.

During each treatment stage, one arch is actively aligned while the other is stabilized and used as an additional anchoring and reference structure. Once the planned position of the first arch is achieved, the roles are reversed.

Move.
Stabilize.
Switch.
Jaw By Jaw™
The Core Principle

A different way to think about two-arch treatment.

Instead of asking both dental arches to perform all planned movements simultaneously, Jaw By Jaw™ creates a staged treatment sequence in which stability and movement are deliberately separated.

01

One Moving Arch

Clear aligners are used to actively move the teeth of the selected dental arch according to the digital treatment plan.

02

One Anchoring Arch

The opposite arch is stabilized and can participate as an additional reference and support structure through SyncSplint®.

↻

Then Switch

When the first arch reaches its planned position, it is stabilized and becomes the reference for treatment of the second arch.

The Treatment Philosophy

Function and esthetics.
Planned together.

Jaw By Jaw™ is not simply a method for creating two visually aligned dental arches. The concept is based on the idea that tooth position, smile esthetics and functional relationships should be considered as parts of the same treatment strategy.

Esthetic Planning

The desired final tooth positions, smile architecture and appearance of the dental arches are incorporated into the digital treatment plan.

Functional Planning

The clinician simultaneously evaluates the relationship between the upper and lower arches and the intended functional outcome of the treatment.

Sequential Treatment

Stability first. Then movement.

The sequential principle allows the already stabilized arch to become a more reliable reference for planning and executing the next treatment stage.

Stage 01

Upper Arch

The upper teeth are aligned with clear aligners. The lower dental arch is stabilized with a retainer and, through an individually designed SyncSplint®, participates as an additional support for the planned movements.

Stage 02

Lower Arch

Once the upper arch reaches its planned position, it is stabilized. The roles are reversed and the aligned upper arch becomes the additional reference while the lower teeth are treated with clear aligners.

Position.
Esthetics.
Function.
One Treatment Goal

Harmony between function and esthetics.

The final objective is not simply straight teeth. The concept provides a framework in which the clinician can plan tooth movement together with the relationships between both dental arches.

✓
Tooth position
Planned according to the individual orthodontic objectives.
✓
Smile esthetics
Considered throughout the digital treatment planning process.
✓
Occlusal relationships
Evaluated according to the diagnosis and clinical objectives.
Clinical Control

Planned as a coordinated system.

Jaw By Jaw™ integrates aligners, retainers, SyncSplint® and digital follow-up into a single sequential treatment philosophy.

Aligners

Used for active tooth movement in the selected arch.

Retainers

Used to stabilize the anchoring or already aligned arch.

SyncSplint®

Provides additional interarch support during the corresponding stage.

3DDA

Supports digital documentation and comparison of treatment stages.
